Aaron Howell

dear CAVI,
My name is Aaron Howell.  I am an ex-student of the Cisco Academy for the Vision Impaired, and would like to tell you a little about my success.

I was a student in 2007, completing all four of the Cisco Certified Network Associate courses.

On November 6 2007, I became Australia's first totally blind recipiant of the CCNA.

This has greatly enhanced my employability in the networking field.

In early 2008, my newly developed networking skills were put to extensive use, as I played a major part in the redesign/implementation of the faculty of I.T's building network at a major Australian university.

The academy plays an important part in providing both training, in the form of in person and online lectures and adapting the Cisco material to be accessible for people using screen readers.

Without the assistance of the academy, I would never have had the opportunity to gain the knowledge needed to successfully pass the CCNA, and for that I am truely greatful.

The Cisco Academy for the Vision Impaired allows Blind people like myself, from all around the world, to benefit from high quality training in the information technology field.

Cavi is heavily reliant on donations from organisations, to continue to be able to provide this training and I urge them to consider providing funding to the academy, to allow other Blind people the opportunities that the Cisco courses have provided for me.

Regards
Aaron Howell
