Testimonials From Passed and Current Students.Elise LonsdaleI'm a Web Developer with less than 10% vision, running my own home based business in Melbourne Australia. In late 2007 I found my self needing to expand my knowledge of Linux and other computer related matters, as my Web Development business was being plague by a host of technical issues caused by 3rd party web hosting companies. I new a little about Cisco Training for People with a vision impairment, through a friend so I decided to follow it up, and I'm very glad I did. In early 2008, I was accepted into the CAVI courses and have not looked back since. Since then, I have passed the IT Essentials 1, IT Essentials 2 and Discovery 1 courses. I've now become a CAVI instructor and with my partner in Crime, Jackie McBride, I have had the privilege to further teach others. Much of the computer training offered by the various agencies in Australia for blind and vision impaired people is of a first-click nature, teaching little more than basic Windows navigation, word processing and basic Keyboarding. Blind people have a need to further their skills and to my knowledge, CUCAT, through its CAVI project is the only organisation in the world offering such a high level of training and tuition to Blind and Vision impaired People. For Myself personally, I've been able to apply much of what I've learn in my own business, and wonder how I managed before I became involved with CAVI. One of the profound realisations in my own case is the desire to become a professional trainer in this field, facilitating training and courses for vision impaired and other disadvantage groups in the community.
