Meet the Staff

If it were not for our staff, many of whom volunteer their time and resources, CAVI could not operate in the manner that it does. CAVI would like to thank all our staff for their time, resources and devotion to the whole project.

Dr. Iain Murray

Photo of Iain MurrayDr. Iain Murray established CUCAT in 2007, as a collaboration point for the projects in Assistive Technology being Undertaken at Curtin University. He acts as the main contact point and co-ordinator of the research undertaken by the group. Iain has recently completed a PhD in eLearning modalities for the vision impaired.

Helen Armstrong

Photo of Helen Armstrong Dr. Helen Armstrong is involved in the research aspects of assistive technologies and effective teaching methods for the vision impaired within CUCAT. Helen is involved in the project management of the Cisco Academy for the Vision Impaired.

Kerry Hoath

Photo of Kerry Hoath Kerry Hoath is one of the Cisco instructors in CAVI. He has over 18 years experience in IT and assistive technology. His specialities include networks, wireless and Voice Over IP (VoIP). His responsibilities include management of the Cucat network and remote laboratory equipment.

Grace King

Photo of Grace KingGrace King is a former CAVI student and certified Access technology trainer. She currently teaches IT Essentials, as well as managing the student enrolment process.

Elise Lonsdale

Photo of Elise Lonsdale After working in the corporate sector doing Level 1/2 support, Elise brings to CAVI 10 years of small business experience working as a sole proprietor and within a partnership developing web sites. She also brings her previous experience as a volunteer computer trainer training and assisting people who had recently lost their eyesight.

Jackie McBride

Photo of Jackie McBride Jackie McBride, a former physician, also brings to Cavi experience in technical support, adaptive technology, computer forensics, & programming, including Jaws screenreader scripting.

Dean Adams

Photo of Dean AdamsDean Adams is the assistant/mentor for Sri Lankan students. A past CAVI student who now assists in marking, tutoring and converting packet tracer exercises to an accessible format.
